I grew up with cardinals in northern Illinois, and continued to enjoy them at our feeders when we lived
in Indiana, Kansas, and Minnesota.  We never see cardinals out here in the foothills of Colorado, but
when I was asked to do a commission which involved several different species of song birds from
Illinois… a pair of cardinals was high on my list.  This beautiful male cardinal perches securely on the
post of a fence, while his lady looks up at him from below (Lady in Red).
